1. What is a vehicle wrap?

A vehicle wrap is defined as a self adhesive vinyl decal that covers or “wraps” your vehicle. Many times, they are digitally printed and used for advertising purposes for corporations. Increasingly common are solid color wraps that change the color of personal cars and vehicles.

2. Will it damage my vehicle’s paint?

No. For the time that the vehicle is wrapped, the paint is actually protected by the vehicle wrap from minor abrasions and some UV exposure.

3. Do you help design the vehicle wrap?

Yes. We can design the whole package, or we can work with your own artwork. Our trained wrap experts will consult with you to make sure that your vehicle wrap is effective and stands out from the crowd.

4. How long do vehicle wraps last?

A wrap can last four years or longer. All of our materials are of the highest quality and will look great for years to come. We use American made 3M and Avery Dennison products. There is no company in the world that uses better materials than TechnoSigns.

5. How do I take care of my vehicle wrap?

For slightly dirty car wraps, our spray wrap cleaner is the preferred method. We carry this in stock at our store. Hand washing with mild car cleaning detergent is acceptable for very dirty vehicles. High pressure washers, abrasives, and harsh chemicals should be avoided. Many of our customers have occasionally used automated car washes and have reported no problems, but this practice should be used only occasionally.

6. When I sell the vehicle, can the graphics be removed?

Yes. The graphics are manufactured with an adhesive that is easily removable. An average sized sedan can be stripped within two to three hours. You can contract TechnoSigns to remove the wrap, or you may choose to remove it yourself.

7. How are graphics put on the windows? Can you see through it?

This is called printed window perforation film; or “window perf”. The vinyl is perforated with tiny holes that allow you to see through the adhesive side. From the inside of the vehicle, visibility is similar to regular window tint.

Our window perf is laminated with an optically clear UV film. This has two benefits: it keeps dirt and water from getting in the holes, and it adds longevity to the print. We have seen a few of our competitors skip the laminating process, which can be dangerous when driving in the rain. The perforations can fill with water, making it impossible to see out of the windows.

8. How much do vehicle wraps cost?

Many things factor into wrap pricing. Size of vehicle, amount of graphics coverage, and design time are taken into consideration. Curvy vehicles and vehicles with lots of surface obstacles are more expensive. A VW Beetle is more difficult than a flat box truck or Scion xB, for example. Full car wraps are usually in the $2,500-4,000 range. Larger vans are in the neighborhood of $3,500-4,500.

If you are particular about how your company vehicles look, price should not be the determining factor in your decision. We are not the least expensive, nor the most. Our focus is on great designs and quality installations. We can work within your budget to give you the most amount of graphics within a given amount. If you have a $2,000 budget, for example, we can tailor a partial wrap that includes digital printing and vinyl graphics to meet your needs. Our experienced customer service representatives can have an attractive estimate sent to you within a few hours.

9. Why is a vehicle wrap a great marketing alternative?

Because for a relatively small initial investment, you will reach thousands of potential clients every single day for years. Wraps get your message out 24 hours a day, even when the vehicle is parked. Traffic jams are actually turned into marketing sessions. A wrap can generate millions of impressions per year if strategically parked and driven on major roads.

10. How can I justify spending thousands on a wrap?

Let’s assume your $3,000 wrap reaches an average of 5,000 people per day. Over the course of its 5 year life, you have spent the equivalent of $1.65 a day to create over 9 million impressions! Marketing experts will tell you this is a very cost-effective way to reach the masses. It would be difficult to find a more effective means of reaching more potential clients for less money.

11. Do you pay people to wrap their personal cars with advertising?

No. We are a manufacturer of turnkey vehicle wraps. Our clients contract us to design, print, and install a custom wrap for their vehicles. We do not pay people to drive around with a wrap on their car. Many web sites claim to pay you to do this, but legitimate examples of this practice are few and far between. Some unscrupulous web sites charge a fee to supposedly put drivers on a list to be matched up with an advertiser. More than likely, these people will take your money and never call you back.

12. What model of vehicle should I purchase for a vehicle wrap, and does color matter?

Any vehicle can be wrapped. Some are just easier and less expensive to wrap than others. Any vehicle that has smooth body panels and a minimal amount of curves works well. A vehicle with lots of surface obstacles will be more of a challenge. Some examples of good wrap candidates are the Smart car, Scion XB, Kia Soul, Mini Cooper, Volkswagen Beetle, Ford Transit Connect, Nissan Cube, Ford Econoline, and Scion IQ.

Many of our customers have purchased older vehicles for less than $5,000 and had us wrap them. By the time we are finished, the vehicle looks almost new and our customer has an incredible marketing piece. Color is not important if we are doing a full wrap.
